• Biography

  Ilyana was born into a family well known for their violence, power, and wealth but she didn't know it. Her childhood and adolescence were blissfully free of such concerns and the violence her mob-like family exerted on others never reached her ivory tower. She came into her magic at an early age and spent much of her time training it. Magic is difficult without a Wand, without a focus but Ilyana was a natural. She had a particular affinity for light and darkness and would often entertain her nieces and nephews by conjuring swirling balls of twinkling lights.
  
  For her 50th birthday, her great-grandfather and patriarch of their family gifted her with a most precious gift: A Wand. I Thilivern. The Light.
  
  She trained with it endlessly. Her great-grandfather set harder and harder challenges for her until she was the most powerful magic user of her age. Then he started making demands.
  
  They were simple, at first. Little different from his challenges. Make this appear. Do that for me. Help me with this. But eventually, they grew and required more and more of Ilyana's power. She soon found herself in bed for days after fulfilling his demands, weak as a kitten and with all her magic drained. She didn't dare disobey, however. By now, she was learning what her family was, what they did. She feared disobeying and the consequences.
